Bloodsucking Fiends

A Love Story

This book is the prequel to You Suck and it provides the back story of Jody becoming a vampire and how Jody and Tommy met. Jody has just been attacked and realizes that she is no longer human, she is a creature of the night. She has no idea how to go about this new life she didn’t ask for, and sets about transforming herself and her world with the help of 19 year old Tommy, a wanna-be writer from Indiana. The two must outsmart Elijah, the vampire that turned Jody and wants Tommy dead, and the cops as they attempt to gain control over their new roles.

A quick, fun read and a great diversion. I highly recommend this book if you have to wait for two hours at the mechanic’s while your A/C is fixed and the big screen tv in the waiting room is blaring the History Channel. Especially if there is an old couple sitting across from you that won’t stop staring at you and talking as if you aren’t sitting two feet away from them. I CAN HEAR YOU. Large stack of books.

You Suck

A Love Story

by Christopher Moore

The latest in the Bloodsucking Fiends line, this vampire love story tells the tale of nineteen-year-old Tommy and his redheaded vampire girlfriend Jody. Jody has just turned Tommy and sets about teaching him how to be a vampire. But the ancient vampire that turned her, Elijah, wants his protege back and will do (and kill) just about anything to make that happen. Add in Tommy’s minion (goth girl Abby Normal), Tommy’s gang of Safeway pals and a blue call girl from Vegas. Moore mixes sex, gore and hip hop slang to create a fast, fun page-turner.

This was a quick, entertaining read that made me laugh with its combination of teen angst and vampire pros and cons. Large stack of books.
